Samosa Recipe


Here is a recipe to one of your favorite snacks of all times, Samosa. I know some of you would have already knew how to prepare samosa but this blog post is for those who would like to learn making popular dishes of the Indian Cuisines. Here is how it goes on how to prepare samosa.

The ingredients needed are:
  • For the cover
    • A cup of plain flour (Maida)
    • 2 tablespoon warm oil
    • water (for kneading dough)
  • For the Filling
    • 2 potatoes (boiled, peeled and mashed)
    • 1 onion chopped finely
    • 1/2 teaspoon of crushed garlic
    • 1/2 teaspoon of crushed ginger
    • 2 green chillies
    • 1 tablespoon finely chopped coriander
    • 1/2 lemon juice extracted
    • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
    • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground/crushed coriander seeds
    • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
    • Oil for deep frying
    • Salt to taste

Preparation Method

Dough preparation: Take the flour in a large bowl, make a well in it and add oil, salt and a little water. Mix them up until it turns crumbly. Add water little by little kneading the dough until its pliable. Cover up the dough with moist cloth and keep it aside for fifteen to twenty minutes. Now, beat the dough on a work-surface and knead again. Cover it again by the moist cloth.

Filling Preparation: Heat three tablespoon of oil, add garlic, ginger, coriander seeds and green chilli. Stir fry the mixture for a minute, add onion and saute it till onion turns light brown in color. Now add coriander, turmeric, salt, lemon, garam masala and red chilli powder. Stir fry the whole mixture for two minutes, add potatoes and stir for another two minutes. Let it cool and keep it aside.

Once the above is done, you can proceed with the following:
  • Make flat, thin round dough of 5 inch diameter
  • Cut it into two halves
  • Run a moist finger along the diameter, join and press together to make a cone (as given above in the picture)
  • Put a tablespoon of filling into the cone and seal the third side
  • Make five to six pieces
  • Put it in hot oil and deep fry them on low to medium flame till the dough turns light brown (if fried on high flame, samosas will turn out oily and sloppy)
  • Drain out oil
  • Serve it hot with tomato sauce (Green and red tamarind chutney is perfect)

Tuna With Crackers


I love Tuna, everybody loves Tuna. So this blog post for today is for those fish lovers especially Tuna lovers. Today's recipe is “Tuna With Crackers”

Below are provided the ingredients you will need in order to prepare the dish:

Ingredients for Tuna Spread
  • 400 grams Tuna Fish
  • 2 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oregano
  • Pepper as per requirement
  • 3 tablespoon Fresh Thick Cream
  • Salt to taste
And prawn chips or crackers for serving.

Method of Preparation
  1. Cut fish into small pieces
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry fish pieces over medium heat for two to three minutes
  3. Add spices and blend the whole mixture
  4. Take a mixing bowl, add cream, mash the mixture with the back of a wooden spoon or blend them coarsely using a blender.
  5. Now you can serve it with the crackers of prawn chips.

Fried Rice With Mint and Egg


Since the day I started this blog, I came to know that I haven't posted a single recipe on egg. Sorry to those egg fans who'd have been waiting for it to come. Sooner or later, here it is. Today, I will be posting a recipe on how to prepare Fried Rice With Mint and Egg.

Here is the list of ingredients you would need to prepare this recipe:
  • Boiled rice – 2 cups
  • A bunch of mint (pudina) leaves (ground to form a paste)
  • Eggs – 2
  • Freshly chopped coriander
  • A big onion sliced in thin and long pieces
  • Five green tomatoes cut into thin long pieces
  • Green chilli paste
  • Salt to taste
  • For Seasoning
    • Mustard
    • Half a spoon of black pepper (ground)
    • Cumin (Jeera)
    • Curry Leaves
    • Five to six spoons of vegetable oil

Method of Preparation

To begin with the preparation, start by heating the a pan on medium heat. Add oil on it and then the mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds start popping, add cumin, curry leaves and ground pepper and fry the mixture or a minute. Then, add the onions, fry for a minute thereafter, add the cut tomatoes and fry for another two minutes. After this is done, add green chilli paste and eggs. How should you add eggs is given here.
Crack the eggs into the pan (make sure that pieces of the cracked shell doesn't go into the pan) and bet them till it blends well with the tomato and onion pieces. Fry the mixture for two minutes again.

In the meantime, cook the rice in a rice cooker. Then mix the cooked rice with the mixture prepared above and fry for round about five minutes. The dish is now done.
Garnish with freshly chopped coriander and serve hot. Impress yourself and your guest.
